Continued Professional Development – CPD for Professionals

What is CPD?

CPD can mean several things:

or CPPD – Continued Professional and Personal Development.

As times change individuals are increasingly being left to identify their own Continued Professional Development (CPD).
Continued Professional Development is the life blood of life long employability. We no longer live in a time where we have employment for life, indeed many of us will have several different careers.

Ownership

There is a belief from some people within the worlds of HR, HRD and OD that believe all individuals should take total responsibility for their own development.

While we can see this logic, it begs the question – who is looking after the skills our organization needs?

CPD must be a two way process. Those individuals that contribute time, effort and energy will gain more from any opportunities made available to them. Those that do not are putting themselves and their future earning capability in the hands of the river of life. While CPD may not make it easy to make progress against the tidal flow – it will certainly help steer around any rocks that may be in our path.

Personal Development Plans

Personal Development Plans are tools to help individuals, plan, record and evaluate their CPD. See our page for more details.
