Welcome to Team Mike – Pay It Forward – The profile raising club
Please visit the new page – https://rapidbi.com/team-mike-pay-it-forward/pif1/
WARNING – If you join more groups that do this activity, you risk putting your LinkedIn profile and access at risk, and those of people in our group.
If I discover anyone in another group you are INSTANTLY locked out of ours. This is for YOUR safety and our members.
Doing too much of this activity is potentially against LinkedIn’s terms of service.
I have put a lot of effort into this concept for group members. I will not have it undermined by people being selfish. Choose a group and I wish you all the best.
Remember the goal here – to raise your profile so you are in the top few profiles that people get in their searches – DO NOT get hung-up on vanity of being #1 in ANY list – it is unsustainable if you also want to have a life!
THIS IS AN OLD PAGE. PLEASE STOP READING, FOR EVERYTHING BELOW HAS CHANGED – USE THE LINK ABOVE!
Thanks for being a part of a great community.
I am trying to make this process as easy as possible.
Over the last few weeks the “Team Mike Pay It Forward” group has grown.
This week is a trial – I will need your feedback in the group. Especially if you find any broken URLs.
Please follow ALL the instructions carefully – then return to the <featured> discussion and complete the actions stated.
We have discovered that it can HARM your LinkedIn experience if you view too many profiles. When the group was small that was not an issue, but as it grows we KNOW it WILL cause you problems. So stick with the plan!
This page and the linked page provides a list of people that are active and registered. You will be presented with them in groups of 15. The page is basic, as I ran into some technical difficulties at the last minute.
Everyone will cycle through the list of members in different orders. This will ensure that the profiles viewed are well distributed. You will be shown where you are in terms of progress, and your starting point.
We will start a FAQ discussion in the group – and that will be the only place we answer questions.
If you are new, or your name is not listed, then please view these profiles. Then at a point in the week, when you have been active, you will be given the opportunity to add your profile URL. You need to Pay it Forward to gain in this game!
ONLY DO THIS IN ONE GROUP
IMPORTANT – Please DO NOT do this activity in more than one group. High interactions WILL get you banned from using LinkedIn.
It has already happened to members of the group. You could be locked-out from LinkedIn for 7 days or have your profile deleted! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
The level of activity I am proposing is to raise your profile into the top 10 of “professionals like me” – nothing more.
No vanity like trying to be top in your connections. Or top in your company. It’s a waste of effort.
If you are getting more than 100 views a week you are in the top 1% of LinkedIn! That is ALL you need to be. Use your time on other important things, like life!
If you do not like the way I run this – then please join other groups – and I will wish you all the best – but protect your LinkedIn access. Only be active in ONE group or program like this. Too much activity is bad for your LI rep!
Why raise your profile?
Put simply it is “SEO” or Search Engine Optimisation in LinkedIn. Put it this way. Assuming all things are equal.
- You have a good quality photograph.
- You have a COMPLETE profile,
- You have a strong summary with ACHIEVEMENTS.
- You have 50 relevant skills.
- You have over 200 connections (more is not needed)
The when a recruiter searches for a person in a sector or with certain skills, they will get 1000s of results.
What puts one person in the list higher than another? It appears to be activity on LinkedIn and profile views.
This simple method does both. Builds your profile views and your group activity in one process.
WARNING – only follow the recommended approach as too much activity MAY get your account suspended.
Our goal is to get you in the top 10 of “professionals like you”. This statistic is only visible to premium members. being #1 in your connections is vanity – and not a goal I support you going for. If you are not a premium member, don’t worry, just keep an eye on where you are against your connections. Use it as a simple indicator – DO NOT aim to be #1 – it’s just not helpful!
Here are some steps to staying in the group
Before you start:
When viewing profiles
Make sure you are set so that people can see that you are looking at their profile. To do this:
Go to https://www.linkedin.com/settings/summary?trk=nav_account_sub_nav_settings
Select the option “Select what others see when you’ve viewed their profile”
and set to public
Do you want to show the world you are part of this group?
You might not want the world to know you are in this group.
You should consider hiding your membership. To hide it, do the following:
- Click “Profile” tab at the top of the page
- Click “Edit Profile”
- Scroll to the bottom of their profile where groups are listed
- Click on “visible” under the group which will take them to the group options for them.
- Here you need to deselect the first option “Display the group logo on your profile”.
I would advise you to hide your membership :)
When viewing profiles
TIP: On a PC hold the Ctrl and left click the names. this will open up new tabs. This is a quicker way to open the profiles to view.
On a Mac hold the Command and click
IF on a phone or tablet not in desktop mode – then you are on your own
TIP2: IF you see people you are connected to feel free to ENDORSE them for ONE skill a week NO MORE!
TIP3: make sure your privacy is off and people can see that you are viewing their profile – Go to, your image icon, on the very top right of screen. In the drop down menu, go to: ‘privacy and settings’ and click, ‘manage’. Then adjust ‘what others see when your view their profile’. Save your new setting. when job hunting its NEVER a good thing to hide this!
Have you invited DT to connect? https://www.linkedin.com/in/dtmorrison
Why are we doing this?
Well DT is our mythical support. He ONLY connects with people associated with this group. His role is to ensure that in the event that LI stop us, we can function off site. It’s to protect you.
I promise your connection to him will NEVER be used for anything else, I know others think differently, but if you know me (Mike), you will know my companies reputation is on the line here.
If you cannot see “CONNECT” or “INVITE” then look on the button that says “Send DT InMail” – click on the arrow on the button and you will see the option to “connect”. Select “friend” as that should not ask you for an email address.
DO NOT START UNTIL SUNDAY MORNING IN YOUR LOCATION
Pay it Forward to the people that support and manage the group. Please visit these profiles first as a way of saying thank you:
- Greasley, John,
- Morrison, DT,
- Murri, William,
- Smith, Jr. ¦ Facility Management, John R.
- Morrison CCIPD, Mike (Michael)
You only need to visit these people ONCE a week
Before doing this step – if you use Chrome and need to turn popup blockers off follow this – https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95472?hl=en – allow [*.]rapidbi.staging.wpengine.com (we do not use them on the site normally)
It will make the process awesome! – but it is optional – I do not want to risk your security – note this site is https – we believe in a secure site!
On to Step 2 – got here eventually
UPDATE – please note that the URL submit button does not always work – we are aware and working on this.
UPDATE 2 – to help those at the end of the list, as a one off exercise please visit 100+ profiles a day for the rest of this week
Go to this link – on it you will be presented with 15 profiles to view. – CLOSE Tabs before clicking again!
Each time you click the link another 15 will be there for you.
If you have popup blockers off this will be an automatic process. If not then at least it gives you the data in bite size pieces”
Go to this link Profile Views
Please accept this page is a little basic.
I had some technical challenges, and rather than delay, thought it better to use this as a test. Let me know if I need to add or clarify the instructions.
DO NOT VISIT MORE THAN 150 profiles per day – you have been warned.
You need to view on average 50 a day to be considered active in the group.
Look at the profiles, and see what you can learn to improve your profile
IF you are connected to people you view, feel free to endorse them for ONE skill per week NO MORE
Please do not do endorse more than this PER WEEK as it can have a negative effect on peoples profiles
Add your name to the featured discussion along with your location – posting comments regularly helps build your “activity balance” and is helpful for you.
Feel free to connect to people in your location – this is OPTIONAL
In the group, “like” as many comments as you can.
This is really important as it builds your “activity balance” – and no you cannot do it from a phone or tablet – sorry!
We gain nothing for running the group, you can help us out by FOLLOWING our company page on LinkedIn.
Please note this is OPTIONAL and wont cause you to be removed from the group. Please visit our company page and click on follow – you can access it from this link
When you have experienced improvements please add your story along with success measures from others.
That is it!! – rinse and repeat step 2 through 5 – a few times a week
oh – and promote the group where ever you can. we have no restrictions now!
Let me know what you think of this approach.
ps – now anyone can join the group, as long as they are active they will get rewarded by profile views the following week, if they are not active they wont!
