The Business Improvement Review is a form of structured SWOT analysis. It follows the PRIMO-F methodology for looking at all internal factors in a balanced way.
Developed with the knowledge of 11 business advisers, the BIR has taken over 10 man years to design, develop, refine and deploy. It contains over 200 years of experience of running companies from 5-50,000 employees.
Unlike most ‘diagnostic’ tools, the BIR does not attempt to tell a business owner or consultant what is right or wrong with a given organisation. what it does do is show the perceptions of the board, managers and staff with respect to many key factors. The relevance of a given factor needs to be determined by the consultant and/ or the business owner. This will often be determined by the modus operandi of the business (make profit, share profits, add value etc) and the culture in the organization, autocratic, empowered, etc..
In business there is often no right or wrong, more an effective and a ineffective way of doing things in a give set of circumstances.
The BIR provides a vehicle for those discussions to occur.
