Twitter is… was… down…. 6th August 2009 #ddos

UPDATE and again on 7th August twitter is down – but now it seems intermittant, one minute there the next it is not- the fact I have noticed is worrying maybe I spend too much time on it?

OMG Twitter is down…. and more than the usual 30 minutes.. its been hours…

Twitter the social not-working site has now been down for several hours and the BBC and other are reporting that it is due to the site being spammed and causing a denial of service – this means that a co-ordinated attack has taken place to take the site ‘off the air’.
Now while this is an inconvience and it may have been done to orcestrate a ‘news blackout’ or just to show the ‘power’ some have over the web it does raise some interesting opportunities…

For example will productivity increase this afternoon?
