#cipd14 Curing business complacency

Creating hunger in paradise with Rasmus Ankersen

story – he went for dinner with 3 nokia employees – but each had iphones in their pockets…not nokia phones

how could the same people that took nokia to success, be the same people that took the company to failure

The e-test – draw an E on your forehead

tracking talent is hard – we think success is a direct line, it is not, it is messy and unpredictable.

what is a winner… “a loser who has evaluated himself”

when you are winning you have all the answers, when you lose you have all the questions.

the best way to stay #1 is to think as though you are #2!

complacenency driver

good results are the output of good decisions – logically this appears true, but ignores the random occurances

humans do not ask ourselves the tough questions when we are successful

it it aint broke..consider breaking it, for by the time you see its broken its too late

inside out thinking….

we hesitate to improve until be have a burning platform

mastery comes from not 10000hrs of practice… but 10000hrs of deliberate practice

when benchmarking do you compare yourself to people that will make you look good, or someone that will make you look like a beginner?

performance =potential – interference

if you make life too easy for people, do you ever get the best people and performance

set the environment for performance not comfort

what is the perfect environment for max performance and growth

if you have all the time, money & resources you need, you will probably just do what you did yesterday. innovation needs challenge

kill the illusion of perfect conditions
